British WW1 Old Contemptible Association Button-Hole Badge - No. 2714
A darkened brass or bronze button-hold badge to a member of the Old Contemptible Association.
These were men who made up the original British Expeditionary Force and served in France from August 5th 1914 to November 22nd 1914. Described at the time as the "Old Contemptible" and held back the rapid German advance.
Light wear, with some polishing to front, esp in center.
To back, button-hole fitting is firm and original.
Maker marked to base of badge to "Tove & Co Ltd, London" then to button-hole fitting "Reg No. 726347". To top back of badge is stamped the association number "2714".
