A full sized, silver plated fern leaf collar badge on a full size length of the Queens South Africa Medal ribbon to a New Zealand Boer War Veteran. This would have been a unofficial badge, made up by the old soldier.
The badge does not appear to have had lugs to back, but just a pin, soldered to back in its center. The pin may have gone through the ribbon again, hold both layers of the ribbon together, as there are pin holes for it, but it has come apart with time.
Pin to back of badge is firm.
No maker mark that I can see.
