A superb, 2 piece, gilt brass helmet plate to the New Zealand Rifle Volunteers.
Worn as a generic helmet plate by all Volunteer Rifle units which didn't have their own unit badge.
Worn post 1895, when all Volunteer units were instructed to wear brass badges and buttons.
Helmet plate is in great condition, with bright gilt to both front and back, and little wear.
Both copper looped lugs are firm and original to back.
No maker mark.
