French Post WW1 Souvenir Brooch for Armentieres
A Silver plated brass and copper brooch remembering the battles during WW1 at Armentieres.
Armentieries, located near the Belgium border in France, was completely destroyed during WW1 and had a number of battles fought in and around it by the Allies. It was also occupied by the Germans from April to October 1918. This broach would have been bought as a souvenir by a French, German or Allied soldier or member of their family.
Some wear to plating, with the brass showing on the bayonet handle to front.
To back, the brooch fitting is in good working order, with hinge, hook and pin all present.
No maker mark.
