A full size, Silver WW1 British War Medal to 56370 Private Frank Couper Shaw of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force.
Frank was a farmer prior to WW1 at Wiakumete (now a suburb of Auckland). He lists his Mother as next of kin, living at the same address of the farm as Wiakumete. He was born in America.
Frank started his service on the 25th of May 1917 as part of A Coy, 29th Infantry Reinforcements.
Embarked at Wellington for overseas service on Troop transport 91 on the 13th of Aug 1917.
Disembarked on the 2nd of Oct 1917 at Glasgow.
Marched into Sling Camp on the 3rd of October and assigned to the Reserve Battalion of the Auckland Infantry Regiment.
Admitted to Hospital at Tidworth due to Measles on the 9th of Nov 1917.
Discharged from Hospital to Quarantine Camp on the 20th of Nov 1917.
Discharged to Sling Camp on the 3rd of Dec 1917.
Proceeded overseas on the 14th of Dec 1917 for France.
Marched into New Zealand General Base Depo Etaples on the 16th of Dec 1917.
Marched out to Division on the 5th of Jan 1918.
Joined the 2nd Battalion, Auckland Infantry Regiment in the field on the 6th of Jan 1918.
Evacuated out sick on the 12th of Jan 1918
Admitted to No. 3 NZ Field Ambulance same day.
Admitted to No.8 Stationary Hospital at Wimereux on the 20th of Jan 1918 with Pneumonia.
Evacuated to the UK on the 2nd of Feb 1918.
Admitted to UK
Discharged on termination of War on the 30th of October 1919.
