New Zealand FAKE General Volunteer Fern/E Squadron (New Zealand), The Kings Colonials Regiment Cap Badge
Please read the below. I consider this badge FAKE or dodgy at the very best.
This large fern cap badge has been associated with the New Zealand Volunteers from around 1900, Boer War and E Squadron (New Zealand), The Kings Colonials Regiment, which were based in London.
It is faked and should always be bought with caution.
The front of the badge is good, with excellent detail and no pitting which has been highlighted as a feature on recent fakes of this badge
To back are two copper looped lugs, which are just NOT correct, and out of place. Someone has also taken a grinder or small file to the base, maybe to remove the feet on the base of the lugs.
The originals have no feet to lugs and are brazed.
Sold as "not quite right" and if you are needing a filler or one to display with medals, then this is the chap, as it looks superb from front.
