A superb gilt brass, 22mm button to the United States Maritime Service.
Established in 1938 to administer and train US Merchant Marine Sailors and Officers, it was all but disbanded in 1954. There now exists as just a small force associated with a number of training centers and academies.
Light wear and good colour to front.
To back is a fixed shank, zinc coated (?) with a black enamel backing.
