A hard to get, single, 12mm New Zealand Forces Hat Button.
Mainly found on the side of peaked Hats, at either end/side of the chin-strap.
This button has been darkened, but looks brass underneath, with light wear and some loss of finish on detail.
To back is a flexible shank, firm and original.
Faintly maker marked to backing plate to "J R Gaunt & Sons Ltd".
