A single piece, collar size, silver (not marked) sweethearts badge to the New Zealand WW1 21st Infantry Reinforcements.
Purchased by the soldier out of his own pocket to give to a sweetheart or loved one to remember him by.
Collar depicts a Tui (though there is some debate that it may be a Fantail), over a small banner with "NZ" flanking the roman numerals for "21"
Badge is in good condition, with light wear and some tone to silver.
To back, broach fitting is in good working order, with hook, hinge and pin all present.
No silver mark, but there is a "RD" or registered design number on the back of the birds tail, which, with my eye's I can't make out the 3 digit number.
