New Zealand Volunteer Rifles Helmet Plate - 1902 to 1911
A single piece, gilt brass helmet plate to the New Zealand Volunteer Rifles.
Worn as a generic HP by units which didn't have their own distinct badge, with Kings crown this was only between 1902 to 1911 (when the regular NZ Army was established).
Harder to get than its Victorian Crowned counterpart, this badge is in good condition, but with some tone to gilt finish.
All three copper looped lugs are firm and original to back, but note they are slightly pulled.
Overall, the plate is also flattened, so has no curve to sit flush with the helmet it was once designed to sit on... a common fault due to collectors flattening them to sit flush on display boards.
Still a nice example and harder to get with all three lugs still to back (usually the top one was removed).
