A rather scarce, single piece, gilt brass shoulder title to the Pre-1911 1st Battalion, Otago Rifle Volunteers.
The Otago Rifle Volunteers fielded three battalions, but the 1st Battalion seemed to to be the only ones which wore metal shoulder titles (many units of the period has embroidered titles on their tunic shoulder straps).
Light wear to gilt finish to front.
To back are two copper looped lugs, firm and original, but slightly flattened. Still with room to fit a pin in.
